The Executive Women’s Forum (EWF) on Information Security, Risk Management and Privacy heads to Capitol Hill on May 16th for historic event
“The Executive Women’s Forum has been giving women a voice in Cybersecurity for the past 15 years,” said Joyce Brocaglia, EWF Founder. “Bringing their expertise and amplifying their voices on Capitol Hill is a tremendous way to celebrate our 15th Anniversary.”
The EWF Cybersecurity Women on Capitol Hill Public/Private Symposium on May 16, 2017, is gathering one hundred Fortune 500, senior government, corporate and academic women serving in cybersecurity leadership positions across the country. This augural symposium is dedicated to educating the Congressional members and staff as well as setting the foundation for utilizing the EWF as a conduit for ongoing collaboration of providing resources to the government in the area of cybersecurity.
The EWF has secured bipartisan participation in the event including representatives from Senate Armed Services and House Homeland Security Committees. Corporate expert panelists include Wafaa Mamilli, Chief information Security Officer of Eli Lilly, Marene Allison, Chief Security Officer of Johnson & Johnson, Lynn Terwoerds, Executive Director of the Executive Women’s Forum and Rhonda MacLean, CEO MacLean Risk Partners. Thought Leadership Partners for the event are Alta Associates, the leading executive search firm specializing in cyber security and Booz Allen Hamilton.
The event will raise Congressional and Senate awareness of the collective talent and subject matter expertise of women in cybersecurity and related fields so they may utilize women’s knowledge for expert testimony and advice locally and nationally. It will also provide an opportunity for executive women’s voices to be heard by Members of Congress and their staffers relative to issues pertinent to the cybersecurity of private industry and government.
The event is hosted by Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, who will be attending and receiving an award. Congressional members, Senators and their senior staff and Committee members have been invited and are expected to join at various times of the day.
“For the past 15 years, the Executive Women’s Forum has been dedicated to engaging, developing and advancing women leaders in Cybersecurity. We are proud to bring some of the brightest minds and most influential women in our field together with Congressional members and staff for the purpose of sharing knowledge and best practices” said Joyce Brocaglia, CEO and Founder of the EWF. “The relationships forged at this event will create opportunities for the women attending and our broader community of EWF members to be called upon to provide insights when Congressional members are writing markups, creating legislation or are in need of expert congressional testimony.”
