The Executive Women’s Forum (EWF) Announces 2009 Women of Influence Award Recipients

Awards Honor Achievements and Contributions to Information Security, Privacy and Risk Management
Scottsdale , AZ ─ October 27, 2009 ─ The Executive Women’s Forum (EWF) is pleased to announce its 2009 Women of Influence award recipients. Along with sponsors Alta Associates and CSO Magazine, the Executive Women’s forum (www.ewf-usa.com) presented the awards to recognize the achievements and powerful contributions women have made to information security, privacy and risk management. The five awards include Public Sector or Academia, Private Solutions Provider, Corporate Practitioner, One to Watch (honoring an up-and-coming thought leader), and Life Time Achievement.
 

Joyce Brocaglia, founder of The Executive Women’s Forum and Joan Goodchild, CSO’s Senior Editor co-presented the awards to the following recipients at the annual EWF conference held in Scottsdale, Arizona.
 

Public Sector: Mischel Kwon, Vice President of Public Sector Security Solutions, RSA (formerly Director of the U.S. Computer Emergency Readiness Team (US-CERT) at the Department of Homeland Security)
 

Public Sector Honorable Mention: Melissa Hathaway, Senior Advisor to the Director of National Intelligence (DNI) and Cyber Coordination, Executive Office of the Director of National Intelligence; Holly Ridgeway,  Deputy CISO/JSOC Director, Department of Justice

Each year the EWF holds a national conference where nearly 200 women gather for candid conversations, interactive panel discussions, formal and informal networking events. Sponsors for 2009 included CA, Carnegie Mellon, Microsoft, Symantec, Archer Technologies, E & Y, Sun Microsystems,  eBay, ISC2, Cisco, Green Armor Solutions, RSA, Verizon, Trident Capital, Boeing and TRUSTe. The EWF community is also active throughout the year as members continue to support each other at regional and international events and on a daily basis through its online community.
 
An important goal of the Executive Women’s Forum is to provide opportunities for women to develop their careers in the field of technology risk management in an environment that enriches their lives and the lives around them.
 
The EWF is also committed to mentoring the next generation of thought leaders. Each year the EWF partners with the Information Networking Institute (INI) and Carnegie Mellon CyLab to offer a full tuition scholarship for their Master of Science in Information Security Technology and Management (MSISTM) program to a qualified woman.
